Community service honors
Gene Rainbolt, Polly Nichols and Kris Steele will be honored at the John F. Kennedy Community Service Awards, set for 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Omni Hotel.
Proceeds from the awards dinner will support the Santa Fe Family Life Center in its mission to provide recreation and athletic programs for children who are disadvantaged, or have physical or intellectual disabilities and mentally challenged children.

Educator award
Jena Nelson, a student support coordinator, and academic enhancement teacher at Nelson Deer Creek Middle
School, has been chosen as one of 45 public school educators who will receive the California Casualty Award for Teaching Excellence at the NEA Foundation's Salute to Excellence in Education Gala next February. The California Casualty Awards for Teaching Excellence awardees are nominated for their dedication to the profession, community engagement, professional development, attention to diversity and advocacy for fellow educators. This year's awardees represent 45 states.
Of the 45 state awardees nominated by their National Education Association state affiliate, five will be chosen as finalists for the top national award and will receive $10,000. The educator selected for the top award will be revealed at the NEA Foundation Salute to Excellence in Education Gala and receive $25,000.
4-H honors
A pair of Cleveland County 4-H members took top honors when they were named state record book winners at the 100th State Centennial 4-H Roundup recently held at Oklahoma State University.
Matthew Lewis, of Lexington, received top honor in the level one $1,200 All-Other Projects Science and Technology record book, and
Charlotte Spires, of Newalla, was named the level one $1,200 state dairy record book winner.
Other scholarship winners from Cleveland County were Adliene Soell, Noble, Rule of Law Graduating Senior;
Conrad Moffat, Lexington, the Marjorie Moesel Scholarship; and Karina Feng, Norman, Rule of Law Alumni. This year, the Cleveland County 4-H Key Club winner was Trisdon Metseff, of Norman.
