MIDWEST CITY - Opal Justina Edwards Berryhill, of Midwest City, OK, died peacefully at Wesleyan Assisted Living in Georgetown, TX on 09/04/2021. She was born on September 12, 1920, to W. P. and Texarkana (Donathan) Edwards in Atwood, Oklahoma. She was raised in Atwood and graduated from Atwood High School in 1938. Then went on to attend East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma and graduated May 21, 1942, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and a Major in Elementary Education. She married William Robert Berryhill in Shawnee OK, on January 31, 1942. When Bob retired from the Air Force they settled in Midwest City, OK and raised four children. Opal began teaching in the Mid-Del school system in 1955, where she taught until she retired in 1985. After retirement Opal enjoyed book club, arts and crafts with friends, traveling with the Midwest City First Baptist Church group, teachers retirement group, and spending time with children and grandchild­ren. Opal is survived by two children, Karen Sprague, and husband Bill, Robert B Berryhill and wife Joan, and grandchild­ren, Billy Sprague, Jim Johnson, Eric Sprague, Bob Stoner, Karis Stoner, Jason Sprague, Robert, and Colin Berryhill, numerous great grandchild­ren, great great grandchild­ren, and nieces and nephews. Opal is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, grandson Toben Johnson, daughters, Barbara Stoner, Jeaneane Johnson, brother Glenn Edwards, and sister Bernice Long. Viewing will be Friday, September 10th (3 - 7pm) at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141. Funeral service will be Saturday, September 11th (2:00pm) at First Baptist Church, 705 E Rickenback­er, Midwest City, OK 73110. Burial will be at Arlington Memorial Gardens, 3400 N Midwest Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73141.
