Skylar Thompson

-

Kansas State, quarterback

Thompson missed most of the 2020 season with an injured shoulder.

In the opener against Stanford, the sixth-year senior from Independence, Missouri, showcased the skillset the Wildcats were without while going 2-5 last season with Thompson sidelined.

Thompson scored twice on the ground and set the tone as Kansas State ran away from the Cardinal.

He finished 9-of-14 passing for 144 yards and ran 10 times for 33 yards. He is one of only two QBs in school history to have 5,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards in his career (Ell Roberson), and he needs 835 passing yards to be the first in school history to reach the 6,000/1,000 mark.

Thompson has 31 career starts as he prepares to face Southern Illinois in the home opener Saturday, tied for 10th-most among active quarterbacks.
