Sweep nets dozens of arrests, pills, guns

Effort pays off for OKC police, US Marshalls

A wide-ranging warrant sweep in the Oklahoma City metro area led to dozens of arrests and the confiscation of weapons and drugs.

The joint effort, called “Operation Spartan” and conducted in late August by the Oklahoma City Police Department and U.S. Marshals Service, netted 46 arrests, with one suspect arrested twice and another having been discovered to have died prior to the sweep.

Twelve suspects were already in custody, authoritie­s said.

Law enforcemen­t agents seized more than 17 grams of cocaine and methamphet­amine, plus 530 Xanax pills.

Also seized were an AK-47 assault rifle, six handguns and 30 rounds of ammunition.

Investigat­ors seized $390 in cash.
