OKLAHOMACI­TY - Nancy Ellen (Kidd) Whitten left this world to be with her Savior on September 14, 2021. Nancy was born March 18, 1933, to her beloved parents, Summie and Alice Lee Kidd, of Highland, Illinois. Nancy accepted Christ as her savior as a young girl and followed him faithfully all the years of her life. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1951 where she lettered in Tennis and was State Runner-Up in doubles. She attended the University of Oklahoma and received a degree in social work in 1955. She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and House President her senior year. Nancy married Bill Whitten on June 11, 1955. She was a career military wife for 26 years. During that time, she raised two daughters who were a gift from God, moved numerous times and was a faithful and devoted wife and mother. Nancy was a gifted educator in English and taught in Oklahoma, Texas, Virginia and Spain. She was often greeted by one of her past admiring students that thanked her for the impact she had made in their lives. Nancy became a member of the UM Church of the Servant in 2003. She was very active in the church and involved in mission work. Her favorite hobbies were gardening, sewing, and reading. Nancy’s favorite scriptures were Proverbs 3:5-6, Matthew 6:21, Matthew 25:45 and John 3:16. Her favorite times were being with her family and grandchild­ren. Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Bill (65 years of marriage), her precious daughters who were a gift from God, Deborah Harr and son-in-law Jim, of Oklahoma City, Suzanne Pendley and son-in-law Hap of Collinsvil­le, OK, and three grandchild­ren Sarah, Christophe­r and Brooke Pendley. Her sister’s Madelyn Knight, Virginia Edwards of Colorado Springs, CO, and Nephew Austin Edwards of Charleston, S.C. Lastly, Nancy was a diehard sooner fan where her father lettered in Football (1926-1927) and was the intermural light heavy weight champion in Boxing. He was nicknamed the Iron Man. Due to Covd-19 Nancy’s Celebratio­n of Life at the Church of the Servant (OKC) will be held at a later date. A graveside service for the immediate family will be held at Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City.
