DAVIS — A man who took a police officer’s gun was fatally shot by another police officer here Wednesday night and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the case.

Police said officers in Davis, about 70 miles south of Oklahoma City, responded to a disturbance call around 10 p.m. at a home on Pence Road. An officer encountered Christopher George in the yard of the residence, authorities said.

George struggled with the Davis police officer and grabbed the officer’s gun, officials said. According to an OSBI news release, after a second Davis officer arrived, George fired a shot from the other officer’s gun. No one was hurt by that shot.

The struggle continued between George and the officer, until George “raised the gun,” according to the OSBI. At this point, the second officer shot George multiple times, killing him, the OSBI said.

The first officer was sent to the hospital for evaluation and has since been released.

Members of the Murray County emergency medical services and sheriff ’s department, Sulphur and Lighthorse police departments and Oklahoma Highway Patrol were reportedly at the scene to assist after the shooting.

Investigators will not release the names of officers involved in the shooting unless the district attorney decides to file charges, authorities said.
