OKLAHOMA CITY - Kenneth Marshall Hemry, 79, passed away peacefully on, September 18, 2021 in Oklahoma City at his home attended by his children and nephew. Kenneth (Ken) was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on May 5, 1942, as a wartime baby to Jerome Elden Hemry and Martha Louise (Langston) Hemry. Ken grew up near Shepard’s Farm on northwest 27th street in Oklahoma City a happy energetic red headed kid. He graduated from Northwest Classen high school in 1960 and went on to the University of Oklahoma where he obtained a major in English. He graduated with both a bachelor’s degree in English and LLM in law from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1967. Ken immediatel­y went into the U.S. Army where he served our country as a 1st lieutenant in the Viet Nam war from July 1968 through July 1969. Ken was awarded the Bronze Star Medal due to his distinguis­hed meritoriou­s service in ground operations, Adjutant General’s Corps, against hostile force with loyalty, diligence and devotion to duty. Upon completion of his Army service, Ken married and moved to Phoenix, Arizona and worked with the Systems Capital Corporatio­n until 1972. He then moved back to Oklahoma and practiced law in the family law firm of Hemry & Hemry until 2015. Thereafter, he took a job riding the Oklahoma district court circuit as a senior attorney for the law firm of Shapiro and Cejda through August of 2021, when he retired. Throughout his life, Ken loved life, people and the outdoors, with travel, snow skiing, fishing, and many good times with his “Foul Fellows” friends from his childhood. Ken most deeply loved his children and grandchild­ren as a wise and loving patriarch of the family. He would bend over backward to help about anyone who truly needed something, as well as caring deeply for his parents through their lives to their deaths. Ken said, “The trips to Hawaii and Alaska were a delight with the girls and grandkids. Glad we could all share those experience­s together. My two internatio­nal trips to Taiwan and Vienna were much appreciate­d, and the company there was priceless.” Ken is survived by his two daughters, Lauren Leslie Hemry and Heather Elise Hemry, and two grandchild­ren, Drake Arnold and Haiden Hemry-Gatz, as well as, his brother, Jerome ( Jerry) L. Hemry along with Jerry’s sons, Tom Hemry of Norman, Oklahoma and Stan Hemry, of Phoenix, Arizona.
