Home turf advantage
Five of the most recent six playings of the Ryder Cup have seen the home team win, which bodes well for the U.S. as the 43rd edition of the biennial matches will be played at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin. The U.S. outscored Europe, 43-37, on home soil in 2008, 2012 and 2016, but lost 14½-13½ in 2012.
FedEx Cup
Max Homa took the lead in the FedEx Cup with his victory in last week’s 2021-22 season-opening Fortinet Championship in Napa, Calif. The FedEx Cup will consist of 48 events – 45 in the regular season and three in the FedEx Cup playoffs, which culminates Aug. 25-28 at The Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. Patrick Cantlay is the defending champion.
