March 6, 2020: The first case of COVID-19 was identified in Oklahoma, in a Tulsa man in his 50s who had traveled to Italy.

March 18, 2020: Oklahoma recorded its first COVID-19 death, a 55-year-old man from Tulsa, Merle Dry.

April 2, 2020: Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt declared a health emergency for all 77 counties in the state due to the spread of COVID-19.

Sept. 26, 2020: Oklahoma records its 1,000th death from COVID-19.

Dec. 15, 2020: The first Oklahoman, registered nurse Hannah White, receives a COVID-19 vaccinatio­n.

Sept. 20, 2021: COVID-19’s death toll across the U.S. surpassed the toll of the 1918-19 Spanish flu pandemic, about

675,000.

Sept. 23, 2021: Oklahoma’s COVID-19 death toll rises above 10,000 for the first time.
