Alo finalist for national AAU award
Oklahoma softball player Jocelyn Alo is a finalist for the 91st Amateur Athletic Union James E. Sullivan Award. The award is given to the nation's best amateur athlete who excels in leadership, character and sportsmanship.
Alo, who helped the Sooners win the 2020 NCAA championship in the spring, is one of 38 athletes up for the honor. She is the only softball player among the finalists.
Voting is open to the public now (bit.ly/91stAAUSullivan) and runs through Monday at 10:59 p.m. Oklahoma time. Fans can vote once per day until voting closes.
The record-setting Alo, whose 34 home runs led the nation, claimed the Oklahoma AAU District's Jim Thorpe Oklahoma Athlete of the Year earlier this year. She was also named the Big 12 Player of the Year.
The AAU James E. Sullivan Award presentation will be held Oct. 22 at the Rosen Centre in Orlando, Fla.
