Oklahoma delegation votes against bill
All five U.S. House members from Oklahoma, all Republicans, voted Friday against a bill that would guarantee a woman’s right to an abortion.
Rep. Stephanie Bice, R-Oklahoma City, said, “I cannot, in good conscience, support legislation that would allow an abortion up until birth. This bill eliminates all current state and federal laws related to abortion and, going forward, would ban states from passing commonsense pro-life laws. Under this act, every state will be a late-term abortion state with no accountability or protections for women.”
Rep. Tom Cole, R-Moore, said the bill “represents the greatest threat to defending innocent life that we have seen in the past 50 years.”
