However, Calvey has since removed the item from discussion.
“I’m going to move to strike this item because I was informed by the district attorney’s office that in order to make the appointment I would have had to have named the person,” Calvey said.
Calvey said previously the process worked differently, but newer court cases require an appointment to be named in advance, per the district attorney. He said he would bring the item back in a later meeting.
No explanation was given as to why the board did not move to accept the resignation without naming a replacement appointee.
Named to the trust by Calvey, Lamb attended few meetings, according to records. A review of available minutes by The Oklahoman found that Lamb was present at 14 of 34 trust meetings since January 2020.
According to the trust rules, Lamb should have been removed at the end of 2020 due to his lack of attendance. Any trustee missing more than half of the trust’s meetings in a calendar year is to be “immediately removed,” according to the document.
It is unclear why Lamb was not removed previously or what prompted his resignation. Attempts to reach Lamb for comment were unsuccessful.
The next regularly scheduled county commissioners’ meeting is Oct. 4.
