Game time set for Sooners' Red River Showdown vs. Texas

-

Maybe things will be different once OU-Texas is a Southeastern Conference matchup instead of a Big 12 battle. But for now, the Sooners' annual meeting with the Longhorns in Dallas' Cotton Bowl, set for Oct. 9, will once again kick off at 11 a.m., the Big 12 announced Monday.

It will be the 12th time in 14 years the Red River Showdown has kicked off in the morning. The 2010 and 2017 games kicked off at 2:30 p.m.

The Sooners (4-0, 1-0 Big 12) have won the last three meetings with the Longhorns and the last two regular-season meetings. OU beat Texas in the 2018 Big 12 Championship Game.

OU won last year's meeting 53-45 in four overtimes.

The Sooners head on the road for the first time this season Saturday to face Kansas State (2:30 p.m., Fox).

OU and Texas are set to leave for the SEC in time for the 2025 season, or earlier, after agreeing in July to join the conference.
