Counselors win scholarships

Five high school counselors from the Oklahoma City area each have won a $1,000 scholarship for a high school senior who chooses to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Accepting the scholarships at a recent SWOSU high school counselor program and luncheon in Oklahoma City were Prisma Espinoza, U.S. Grant High School; Brian Collums, Chickasha High School; Brenda Stinnett, Putnam City High School; Debra Booth, Canadian Valley Tech Center; and Erin Bickle, Edmond Santa Fe High School.

Alumni scholarship

The Heritage Hall Alumni Association recently recognized Genesis Franks as its 2021 Alumni Scholarship recipient. The scholarship honors an alum who has been in higher education for at least one semester and who exemplifies the tenets of the school’s Charger Code: To learn with honor, to lead with courage, and to serve with compassion. Award recipients receive $1,000, and an additional $250 is donated to the charity of their choice.

Franks, a 2020 graduate of Heritage Hall, is a sophomore at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. She is pursuing a nursing degree specializing in pediatrics. Upon graduating, Franks plans to open a pediatric health care facility serving the needs of underprivileged youth.

As the beneficiary of the $250 charitable donation, Franks chose the Oklahoma Mother’s Milk Bank, an organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of infants.
