Luther to welcome circus to town

LUTHER — In preparatio­n for an evening of “Big Top” circus entertainm­ent, the Culpepper & Merriweath­er Circus will be setting up its tent from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wild Horse Park, 655 NE 4.

The Luther Parks Commission is sponsoring the circus attraction, which will have performanc­es at 5 and 7:30 p.m. that evening.

After the morning tent raising, the circus also will be offering free tours, providing a unique face-to-face opportunit­y for families, schools, day care centers and community members to meet and learn about the circus, its performers and its history.

Among this year’s lineup of performanc­es will be Miss Simone and her single trapeze, Miss Paulina’s prancing ponies, The Arlise Troupe on their unicycles, Logan Jimenez with his Cockatoo Review, Emilie Dean with her feats of aerial strength, the Wheel of Destiny, the Russian Swing by The Perez Family and Jungle Cats Soloman & Delilah.

Advance tickets may be bought at Luther Town Hall, Our Town Eatery, Luther Hardware & Lumber, Rustic Farm, Luther Mill & Farm Supply, Farmstead Café and BancFirst – Luther Branch. Prices for advance tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for seniors (65 and older) and children (2 to 12). Children younger than 2 will be admitted free.

On show day, the box office will open at 4 p.m. Tickets will be $15 for adults and $8 for seniors and children. Pony rides, a moon bounce, concession­s and more will be available an hour before the box office opens.
