Oklahoma Caring Vans set to help drive out flu

-

The Oklahoma Caring Vans are helping to fight the spread of the flu virus this season. The program’s nine mobile units have been traveling throughout the state and are expected to provide nearly 9,000 flu vaccinations to Oklahoma children.

The Oklahoma Caring Van Program provides immunizations and other preventative services at no charge to children, aged 6 weeks through 18 years, who are uninsured, Medicaid eligible or American Indian. In addition to flu shots, the Caring Vans provide all immunizations required by Oklahoma law for enrollment in school or child care.

Immunizations are given on a first come, first serve basis. For each child immunized, a parent or guardian must provide current shot records and complete paperwork.

Integris Health expands tele-neurology services

Tele-neurology services were recently launched at Integris Grove, Integris Miami and Integris Health Edmond hospitals.

These services allow hospitalists to consult with neurologists from the Oklahoma City metro for non-urgent cases regarding their patients. Access to these physicians will allow patients and their families to remain in their local communities.

Neurologists are able to connect with the patient and complete a full exam with the nurse at the bedside, order vital testing and/or medications needed for these patients, review records/ imaging, and speak with family and physicians/staff through two-way video interaction.

The three new locations will join Integris Canadian Valley Hospital, Integris Baptist Medical Center Portland Avenue and Integris Bass Baptist Health Center in providing tele-neurology services.
