Essay contest entries sought
The 37th annual Mayor’s Essay Contest is open for entries. The contest is open to all first- through fifth-grade students in Edmond.
Students wishing to participate are asked to write a short essay no longer than 250 words over the following topic:
“How can showing kindness to others make a difference in our community?” To enter, students should submit their essay along with their name, school, grade and parent contact information no later than 5 p.m. Nov. 9. Essays may be turned in at 24 E First St. in downtown Edmond or emailed to specialevents@edmondok.com.
Each grade’s first-, second- and thirdplace winners will be recognized at the Luminance Kick-Off and Tree Lighting at Mitch Park beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 20. Contest winners will have their picture taken with the mayor and awarded a special keepsake.
