Xavier Worthy
Texas, wide receiver
Yes, the Longhorns lost the Red River Showdown in heartbreaking fashion. But you can’t blame Worthy. All the true freshman did was haul in nine receptions for 261 yards and a pair of touchdowns. His 261 receiving yards were a freshman record for the Longhorns, the second-most in a game in school history (Jordan Shipley had 273 against UCF in 2009) and the best output ever for a Longhorn against the Sooners. In six games with six starts, Worthy has 24 receptions for 514 yards and six touchdowns. Worthy’s six touchdown receptions are tied for the second-most by a freshman in program history, while his 514 receiving yards rank fourth all-time for a freshman.
