Doris Edna Dahl
NORMAN - Doris Edna Dahl, age 99, died peacefully on October 15, 2021, at her home in Norman, Oklahoma. She was born on September 30, 1922, in Duncan, Oklahoma, the daughter of Clyde Liddell and Norma Floyd Liddell.
Doris graduated from Shawnee High School in 1940, then worked for Southwestern Bell in Shawnee and the George Townsend Company in Oklahoma City. Doris married the love of her life, Ken Dahl, on April 25, 1942. Shortly after they got married, Ken was deployed to North Africa to fly B-17’s in World War II. During that time, she worked at Douglas Aircraft to learn how to become an airplane part inspector. She was then transferred to Stillwater to start inspecting airplane parts. She left this job to move back to Shawnee to work for a magazine distributor until Ken came home from the war.
Ken and Doris were members of the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City, where they met some of their dearest friends. They would go square dancing and attend bridge clubs every Saturday. In 1977, Doris was hired by her brother Dick Liddell at Commercial Brick Corporation to help run the Oklahoma City operation. She eventually became Vice-President and part owner of the company. Her leadership helped Commercial Brick become one of the largest kingsize brick manufacturing plants in the US. In 2006, she retired from CBC. After retiring, Doris became involved with Rob’s Road to Recovery Ranch in Purcell, Oklahoma, and the Faithworks of the Inner City in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Doris’ life was one of serving others and loving Jesus. She touched countless lives, using her many blessings to bless others, never seeking recognition or praise.
Her generosity, friendship and kindness have blessed hundreds of children and families. She leaves a legacy that will continue for generations. ‘Aunt Doris’ is loved and celebrated by her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Norma Liddell of Shawnee, Oklahoma; her husband, Ken Dahl of Norman, Oklahoma; one son, Kenny Dahl and his wife Pam of Wewoka; three brothers, Harold Liddell, C. P. Liddell and sister-in-law Irma, and Dick Liddell and sister-in-law Betty, all of Norman; one sister, Helen Jean Sage, brother-in-law Ken and nephew Ricky, all of California; .
The family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers. They were like sisters and daughters to her: Cherie Weyand, Mercedes Meraz, Daphnie Hester, Kendra Wood, Diana Mineo, Raquel Mercedes, Julie Meraz, Pat Tarver, Connie Phillips, Beth Mullins, Robin Noah, Hearts at Home Companion Care.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook Street, Norman, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at CrossPointe Church, 2601 24th Avenue SE, Norman, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Restahven Memorial Park in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
