Donation to support domestic violence victims
The Latino Community Development Agency is receiving a $150,000 grant from Bank of America. The nonprofit will use the funds to support its Proyecto Cambio initiative, which assists domestic violence victims and their legal procedures, improving cultural and linguistical services to the growing Hispanic population. It also supports 24hour crisis hotlines and mental health counseling.
An already-high rate of domestic violence has been exacerbated by the ongoing pandemic. The funding will help expand services, include writing and translating victim protection orders, navigating the judicial system and providing interpretation during hearings. Bank of America’s funding will help serve at least 1,800 more Latinas in the Oklahoma City area over the next three years.
