Aikman returns to Henryetta to announce music festival
For the first time in 10 years, Troy Aikman visited his high school alma mater on Friday and announced a music festival in Henryetta to be headlined by by another Oklahoman, Blake Shelton.
Addressing students and media members during a Friday pep rally, Aikman said the inaugural Highway to Henryetta festival will be June 11, 2022, at Henryetta’s Nichols Park.
Aikman is the driving force behind the festival, and proceeds will benefit educational and community initiatives in Henryetta.
Henryetta became Aikman’s hometown during his eighth-grade year, when his family moved to Oklahoma from the Los Angeles area.
Aikman graduated from Henryetta High School in 1984, spent two seasons at OU before transferring and finishing his college career at UCLA.
