Counselor honor
Mustang Public Schools’ Chelsea Hinkle has been named this year’s recipient of the Oklahoma School Counselor Association’s Emerging Leader Grant.
The OSCA annually names an Emerging Leader that possesses leadership skills and a desire to further the mission and vision of OSCA through personal enthusiasm, professional advocacy and active contribution.
Hinkle will travel to Austin, Texas, to attend the American School Counselor Association’s National Conference and will present her findings at the Fall 2022 Oklahoma School Counselor Association Conference.
Hinkle is the counselor for fifth- and sixth-grade students at Canyon Ridge Intermediate School in Mustang.
Scholarship recipient
Johanna Justus, an Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics senior, has been awarded the Oklahoma City Community Foundation (OCCF) Scholarship.
The $3,000 award, which is renewable for four years, is based on the applicant’s commitment to education and community as demonstrated by extracurricular activities and community service. Funds may be used for tuition, fees and book expenses.
A member of OSSM’s class of 2022, Justus is considering attending Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for its Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
SWOSU scholar
Robyn Clanton, of Yukon, has been named the first Rebecca Reddin Jones Memorial Scholar. Clanton is a junior studying early childhood education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, which has locations in Weatherford, Sayre and Yukon.
The Rebecca Reddin Jones Memorial Scholarship was established by family and friends of the late Rebecca Reddin Jones to benefit SWOSU students who demonstrate a passionate commitment to education and the teaching profession.
