The 2022 Oklahoma high school tennis season is underway. Here some storylines and players to watch.

Edmond North among Class 6A contenders

Edmond North had one of the best tennis programs in the state last season. The boys squad lost to Jenks by just two points and was the runner-up at the Class 6A state tournament, while the girls team placed third.

The Huskies are strong again this year and have their top players back in sophomore Alice Hsu and junior Reid Rainwater, who were named finalists for The Oklahoman’s 2021 All-City boys and girls player of the year awards.

Edmond North has had lots of success throughout the years. The boys last won a state title in 2019 and have claimed 10 since 2001. The girls have won eight championships, their last coming in 2016.

Will the private school domination continue?

Private schools dominated Oklahoma high school tennis last year, and it’ll be interesting to see if that continues.

The only public school team to win a state title was the Jenks boys squad in 6A. The other champions were Tulsa Kelley (6A girls), Tulsa Cascia Hall (5A girls and 4A boys), Crossings Christian (5A boys) and Tulsa Holland Hall (4A girls).
