HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Voting is open for the next oklahoman.com high school athlete of the week ballot for March 21-27.

The deadline is noon Wednesday. Athlete of the week voting occurs each week during all high school sports seasons and recognizes athletes across all sports.

Here are the nominees for March 21-27:

Boys golf Collin Bond, So., Community Christian:

Fresh off basketball season and a state runner-up finish, Bond captured the individual title with a 79 at the Dickson Tournament at Lake Murray Golf Course in Ardmore.

Cole Luber, Sr., Mustang: Luber fired a 1-over 71 at the Class 6A state preview at Jimmie Austin in Norman, beating OU signee and Norman North senior Jake Hopper in a one-hole playoff to win the individual title.

Girls golf

Taylor Frazier, Sr., Newcastle: Finished second at the Marlow Tournament, helping Newcastle to a third-place team finish. Also helped Racers finish second at Purcell.

McKenna Tatum, So., Edmond Memorial: With her 76 on Saturday at Lakeside in Stillwater, she finished solo second and helped the Bulldogs finish runnerup in the team standings.

Baseball

Braden Browning, Sr., Luther: Browning recorded a .333 batting average with six RBI, two doubles, one home run and three stolen bases in Luther’s two wins last week. He also pitched five innings, tallying six strikeouts while allowing just two hits in a run-rule win.

Cooper Frazze, So., Cashion: The sophomore batted 5-for-10 (.500) with a home run, double, three singles and one stolen base in Cashion’s five wins last week. As a pitcher, Frazze also tallied 11 strikeouts against Drummond. Boston Knowles, Fr., Purcell: Knowles recorded a (.667) batting average (4of-6) with two home runs and six RBI in Purcell’s two wins.

Slowpitch softball

Ashlee Eichler, Jr., Guthrie: Eichler led

Guthrie to three wins. The junior recorded a .769 batting average with two doubles and nine RBI.

Kaylee Madden, Jr., Wayne: The junior shortstop batted 10-of-14 with 18 RBI and six home runs to lead Wayne to a 5-0 week. Wayne is 13-0 this season. Jess Morales, Sr., Norman North: Morales led Norman North to a 4-2 record, batting .625 with five doubles and six RBI.

Boys soccer

Eli Cervantes, Jr., Mount St. Mary: Cervantes, who leads Mount St. Mary in all statistics, was pivotal in helping guide the Rockets to a 4-1 week and runner-up finish at the Clinton Tournament.

Ismael Reyes, So., Piedmont: Reyes scored the tournament-winning goal for the Wildcats at Chickasha. He is up to four goals and four assists on the year. Also had a goal in the tournament semifinals.

Jose Romero, Fr., Southeast: Romero was dominant during the Weatherfor­d Eagle Invitation­al. He scored six goals and tallied four assists in three games.

Girls soccer

Landri Allee, Fr., Stillwater: Helping the Pioneers to a runner-up finish at the Stillwater Cup, Allee tallied six goals and one assists in four matches last week. Londyn Lawrence, Jr., Oklahoma Christian School: The forward was named to the OCS All-Tournament team after the Saints won their home tournament. She tallied seven goals in the three victories.

Harper Schindler, Sr., Norman: Schindler helped the Tigers capture the Deer Creek Tournament, making numerous big saves throughout. She saved two penalties against Deer Creek on Friday in a shootout.

Boys tennis

Evan Ivester, So., Deer Creek: He placed third in No. 1 singles at the Deer Creek Invitation­al on Wednesday. He beat Bixby’s Brady Grotts in the thirdplace match after falling to Edmond North’s Reid Rainwater in the semifinals. Steven Nguyen, Sr., Edmond Santa Fe: Nguyen and his brother, Kevin, won the No. 1 doubles championsh­ip at the Deer Creek Invitation­al. The Wolves finished in a tie for second place with Edmond North, while Tulsa Union won the tournament.

Dylan Rainwater, So., Edmond North: He placed second in No. 2 singles at the Deer Creek Invitation­al.

Girls tennis

Kali Harrill, Sr., Carl Albert: She claimed the No. 2 singles title Wednesday at the Duncan West Tournament. Her efforts helped the Titans place second behind Ada in the team standings.

Gracie Shapard, Sr., Heritage Hall: Shapard and her partner, senior Lily Plaster, placed second in No. 1 doubles at the Tournament of Champions last week at Heritage Hall. The event includes state champions from the previous year and is considered the toughest of the season.

Boys track Salvador Jackson, Sr., Mount St. Mary:

He won the 200-meter dash in 22.50 seconds at Bethany’s meet on Saturday.

Emmett Murphy, Sr., Jones: He had a pair of strong runs at Choctaw’s meet Friday, winning the 800 in 2:01.07 and the 400 in 50.23.

Maximus Washington, Sr., Kingfisher: He won the 100 in 11.38 and the 200 in 23.70 at Bethany’s meet.

Girls track Kaitlin Cerny, Sr., Mustang:

She won the shot put with a toss of 36-4 at Choctaw’s meet on Friday.

Christian Gregory, Sr., Moore: She played a big role as the Lions won Choctaw’s meet. Gregory won the 800 in 2:15.37 and helped Moore claim victories in the 4x800 (10:08.08) and 4x400 (4:11.55) relays.

Savanna Meek, So., Crossings Christian: The defending Class 3A state champion in the 100 hurdles, Meek had solid performanc­es at Bethany’s meet on Saturday. She won the 100 hurdles in 15.65 and the 300 hurdles in 46.98. Want to nominate someone for athlete of the week.
