Marjorie D. Davis

Marjorie D. Davis was the third of six children born to Ernest M. Williams and Roberta Prince Williams on December 9, 1937, and departed this life on March 26, 2022. At age twelve, Marjorie gave her life to Christ and was baptized in the Guadalupe River, Gonzales, Texas. She was an active member of her church homes while living in Texas, Colorado, and Oklahoma. Her motto throughout life was, “DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU.”

Marjorie graduated from Edwards High School in Gonzales, Texas. She was active in numerous activities, Spelling Bee, Debate Club, Drum Majorette of the high school band, and various academic clubs. At age ten she planned to become a Registered Nurse (RN). She reached this goal after graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from Metropolit­an State University in Denver, Colorado, and passed her state board exams. Over her career, she held nursing licenses in Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas. Marjorie considered nursing her ministry and was active in the field for over forty years as a staff nurse, charge nurse, and assistant manager.

Upon her retirement from nursing, Marjorie added a much desired hobby. She learned to play the organ, and loved performing with her organ club members at nursing homes and restaurant­s throughout the Oklahoma City metro area. She also enjoyed volunteeri­ng as a member of the People’s Church, reading books, and keeping in touch with family and friends.

Marjorie’s family ranked #1 in her life. She married Donald W. Davis, Sr. (Deceased), in 1957 and from this union were born five children. Sons: Lawrence A. Davis, Donald Wayne Davis, Jr. (Michelle), Robert M. Davis, Sr. (Vanessa), Tracy B. Davis (Deceased), and Daughter: Donna Marjean Davis. Grandchild­ren: Shandrease Davis Nieves (Carlos), Robert M. Davis, Jr., Lashaunda Kiefer (Zak), Zachary Davis, and Daniel Davis. Great Grandchild­ren: Carlos Nieves, III, and Akira Nieves.

In addition to the above family, she also leaves sisters: Joyce L. Green, and Maudie M. Alcorn, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Ernest S. Williams and Cecil L. Williams, and sister: Abra E. Green.

Public Viewing will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2022, 3 – 7 pm. Celebratio­n of Life Service will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 11 am. The viewing and service will be held at the Earl Temple Memorial Chapel, Temple and Sons Funeral Directors, Inc., 2801 N. Kelley Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73111.
