Jerry Martin

OKLAHOMA CITY - Gerald “Jerry” Dee Martin Jr, age 70, passed away peacefully April 9th, 2022, after bravely battling an unexpected illness. He was born September 11th, 1951, at the Naval Base hospital in New Orleans, LA to Gerald and LaDon Martin. He married his best friend and love, Sheryl Kay Campbell, June 8th, 1991. To know Jerry was a blessing and an adventure. His wit and candor were exceptional and to be in his presence was a promise of laughter and misadventure. He had a delicate love and compassion for dogs whom he dotted over and spoiled without abandon. He loved adventures on his Harley, travel, cooking, and science fiction. Jerry was a professional commercial journeyman plumber and a member of Local Union 344 for over 30 years. Some people may have said our Jerry was a “Diamond in the Rough”, but to his family and close friends he was a brilliant gem who will be deeply missed every day. The world is a little emptier now, but the universe gained the brightest star. We take great comfort in knowing Jerry was saved in our Lord Jesus Christ before passing away from this earth and we know we will see him again in Heaven. Until then, our friend, brother, husband, and father, Shine on Your Crazy Diamond, you will always be our favorite Pirate. Jerry is survived by his wife Sheryl Martin, daughter Candyce Winterbottom, son-in-law Eric Winterbottom, mother LaDon Martin, sister Michelle Martin, brotherin-law, David Campbell and sister-in-law Jamie Campbell, and his fur baby Harrison “Harry”. A celebration of life in honor of Jerry will take place on Wednesday, May 18th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Newchurch, 9201 N. Rockwell Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73132.
