Van Wyatt Sanders

-

OKLAHOMA CITY - June 26, 1995- May 2, 2022 Van Wyatt Sanders left us and joined his daughter Ava in the stars Monday May 2nd following a weather related car accident. Born in Oklahoma City, OK Van was named after his father’s favorite city, Vancouver, Canada and Wyatt Earp the famous lawmaker and gunslinger. Van was a loving husband and father. He adored his wife and children. Always the gentleman for his wife and perfect balance of fun and stern for his children. Making sure they knew right was right, how to work hard for what they want, and know how to have fun and laugh so hard they couldn’t breathe.

Van lived his life to the fullest never seeing an obstacle as a roadblock but something to climb over. Sometimes literally. He once climbed 30 feet straight up a tree to untangle birthday balloons for his daughter. Passionate about cars and working out Van was always working on his car or doing calisthenics when he wasn’t spending time with family. There wasn’t a car he couldn’t fix or object he couldn’t climb. Most memorable was Van’s ability to see the humor in any situation and find a way to laugh about it. His story telling and expressions are next to none. Nothing can fill the void he left behind, we can smile through these hard times laughing at the things he would say if he was here.

Van is survived by his wife Desirea Fontenot, young sons Adrian Van Sanders, Samuel Ray Moon Sanders, Eli Wyatt Sanders, sister Deryl Rae “Skinny” Sanders, parents Deryl Ray Sanders and Jennifer Jill Sanders ( Jones). All residents of Oklahoma City. Additional surviving family includes Jonathan “Mini Me” De Leon, Armando “Fluffy” Soto, Victor Beltran, Chela De Leon, and Josie De Leon. Countless other friends that are family.

Van is preceded in death by his daughter Ava Luna Sanders, grandparents William Elvis Sanders and Alma Jean Sanders (Stitcher).
