When tonight’s triple feature begins, that’s him seeking the courage to master river rapids and backwoods marauders in the searing 1972 drama Deliverance. In 1974’s Conrack, his idealistic teacher looks to enlighten poor Gullah community kids in South Carolina. And he’s Joe Buck, the title’s Midnight Cowboy (1969), a naive male prostitute in New York City who befriends Dustin Hoffman’s tragic “Ratso” Rizzo.
