FAB 10 GIRLS BASKETBALL RANKINGS

It was a cold and icy week, resulting in most teams playing just one game. But there was still movement. Let’s take a look. Each week, The Oklahoman’s James D. Jackson will take a look at the Fab 10, the top high school girls’ basketball teams in the Oklahoma City area. Here are the rankings for Feb. 3.

1. Edmond North (17-0)

The Huskies continue their undefeated season after a win over Southmoore. With one of the best duos in the state North doesn’t look like it’s slowing down. It’ll take a lot to knock them off the top.

Previous rank: 2. Edmond Memorial (14-2)

The Bulldogs extend their win streak to 11 games and don’t show any signs of slowing down this season after a 69-35 win over Stillwater.

Previous rank: 2 3. Putnam City West (13-3)

The Patriots earn a 79-36 win over Ponca City to keep their groove after 17 days off from games. But the resume speaks for itself, PCW has beaten four of the five top 20 teams it played this season and they’ll face another in a reschedule­d matchup against Midwest City on Thursday.

4. Midwest City (14-3)

The Bombers took down Del City 60-31 last week, taking control throughout the entire game. Midwest City is on a roll as it heads toward the Putnam City teams.

5. Carl Albert (14-3)

The Titans fell to their first Class 5A opponent last week in a one-point loss to Piedmont. After two consecutiv­e losses, Carl Albert is looking to get back on the winning side.

6. Tuttle (16-2)

It’s nine wins in a row for last year’s Class 4A state runner-up. Tuttle took down Elgin 64-30 last week.

7. Bethany (17-1)

The Bronchos kept their momentum with a dominant win last week. Bethany took down Heritage Hall 78-30, where guard Zya Vann tallied her 1,000th career point. Up next: Friday vs. Elgin; Tuesday vs. Crossings Christian

Previous rank: 8. Washington (18-0)

There’s been no stopping Washington this season, it’s taken down Class 5A, Class 4A, Class 3A and Class 2A opponents. The Warriors keep on pushing forward after taking down Bridge Creek 77-28.

9. Dale (20-1)

The Pirates lost their first game of the season and have since won 20 straight games. Dale topped Oklahoma Christian Academy 46-20.

10. Jones (14-3)

The Longhorns were one of the few teams to play more than one game this week and they came out victorious in both. Jones knocked off Harrah 45-22 and McLoud 61-14, both on the road. The defending state champions are on a seven-game win streak.

Up next: Friday vs. Mount St. Mary; Saturday vs. Lincoln Christian

Just on the outside Harding Charter Prep (17-3):

HCP has still only been beaten by one Class 4A team this year. Last time out, Harding Charter Prep beat Bishop McGuinness 72-38.

Bethel (16-3): Bethel took down Wewoka 51-37 last week and keep its five-game winning streak alive after winning the Belleville Tournament.

El Reno (12-3): El Reno wasn’t able to get a game in over the week. They will take on Noble on Friday.

Okarche (18-4): Okarche won two games last week with a 51-31 win over Fairview and a 69-25 win over Strother.
