Get ready to tap in: Yuengling Lager is finally in Oklahoma
This is not a test. Yuengling’s Traditional Lager has officially rolled out to taps at bars across Oklahoma.
In October, Pennsylvania-based D.G. Yuengling & Son – known fondly as “the oldest brewery in America” – announced it would be expanding operations to include Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas. But, while fans of the popular lager can rest assured the brews eventually will hit store shelves in the Sooner State, the family-owned company initially remained tight-lipped on exact timelines regarding distribution.
Eskimo Joe’s took to social media to announce the beer’s arrival on tap Monday, while the lager also was spotted at Mooney’s, 6221 N Interstate Drive in Norman.
Bottles and cans are expected to arrive in March, according to staff at Byron’s Liquor Warehouse, 2322 N Broadway Ave.
What Yuengling beers are available?
Four Yuengling beers brewed through a partnership with Molson Coors Brewing Co. at its Fort Worth brewery are expected to be available for purchase eventually: Yuengling’s flagship Traditional Lager, Light Lager 99, Golden Pilsner and FLIGHT.
Where can I get Yuengling beer?
While bottled and canned Yuengling beers haven’t made their way into stores and restaurants in the state yet, you can get a draft at some bars. Fassler Hall, Dust Bowl, Mooney’s, Charlie’s Sports Bar & Grill in Choctaw, The Lokal in Yukon and Eskimo Joe’s are among locations that have confirmed having the beer on tap.
And employees at Byron’s confirmed Tuesday that kegs are available for purchase through the store.
Who is responsible for brewing and distributing Yuengling beers in Oklahoma?
According to the Molson Coors, the expansion was the next step in a joint venture with Yuengling formed in 2020 to bring the brews to Texas.
Through the venture, Yuengling’s beers are brewed at the Fort Worth brewery, allowing an additional 25 states to be reached beyond the 22 accessed via Yuengling’s Pennsylvania and Florida breweries.
