Captain Edward Streight

YUKON - Edward Earl Streight was born June 13th, 1942 to James A. and Essie Wilder Streight in Okla. City, OK and passed from this life on February 7, 2023. He graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1960 and Central State University in 1967. Married high school sweetheart Karen Wirtz and had two children, Todd and Staci. His career in aviation began in 1968 and spanned 5 decades. He was a corporate pilot for Standard Life Insurance Company, Cleary Petroleum as well as other Oil Companies and a Texas rancher. He flew for TWA for many years and ended his career as a captain with American Airlines. His flight stories were legendary. Over the years, his flight manifest included rock bands, governors, actors, tv personalit­ies like Don Wallace, of Wallace Wildlife and released POW’s. He married June Welch during his years living in Texas. He retired to Grand Lake in Oklahoma and lived there for several years before moving to Oklahoma City to be closer to his children. Fishing, gardening, spoiling his rescue dogs and spending time with his grandchild­ren were his favorite past times. He was predecease­d by his parents, brother Jimmy, and sister Carol Brown. He is survived by children, Todd and wife Donna, Staci and husband Jim Prutsman, grandchild­ren, Joey Streight, Lyndy Streight, Jack Prutsman, Sam Prutsman, Alex Astl and Melanie Davenport. Great grandchild­ren, Olivia and Garner Streight. Surviving siblings, Dr. Norma Leslie Miller and husband Truman, Francile Evans and husband Roland, Dr. John Streight and wife Brenda and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wants to thank Dad’s daughter-in-law, Donna for the special care she gave him these past few months. Visitation will be 12pm-4pm Sunday at Bill Merritt Funeral Service. A memorial service will be held at Bill Merritt Funeral Service on Monday, February 13th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Ed’s memory to Pets and People Dog Rescue at petsandpeo­ple.com or PO Box 850587, Yukon, OK 73085.
