Indulge in your love for voting in local elections on Valentine’s Day

- Jana Hayes The Oklahoman USA TODAY NETWORK

Love and democracy are in the air this Valentine’s Day, with a number of local elections on Tuesday’s ballot.

For voters in the Oklahoma City metro area, several city council races are afoot, as well as school board elections and bond proposals to bring improvements to local school districts. Many of the elections are primaries and could lead to an April runoff.

Here are answers to common questions and a list of local elections for voters in Oklahoma and Cleveland counties.

How do I find my polling place in Oklahoma? What time will the polls be open?

Head to Oklahoma’s online voter portal at https://okvoterportal.okelections.us/ to find your polling place and a sample ballot.

The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Lines at the polls are typically the longest before and after work, and during the lunch hour, according to the Oklahoma State Election Board. Any eligible voter in line at 7 p.m. will be able to vote.

What do I need to bring to vote in Oklahoma?

Anyone voting in person on Election Day must provide one of these three proofs of identity:

● A valid photo ID issued by the federal, state or tribal government.

● A voter identification card.

● Sign an affidavit and vote a provisional ballot; if the information on the affidavit matches official voter registration records, the ballot will be counted after Election Day.
