Braum’s awards Oklahomans thousands in tuition

Braum’s is proud to congratula­te and announce the ten Oklahoma winners of the 2022 Braum’s Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway.

The Dr Pepper tuition award covers college or post-secondary vocational institutio­nal tuition, fees, books, supplies, equipment, related educationa­l expenses or on-campus room and board. Winners also can use the tuition award to pay off student loans for eligible costs.

The winners of the giveaway are: h Shannan Magden, of Yukon, won the $23,000 Grand Prize. h Alyssa Black, of Blanchard, won $1,000. h Mya Purifoy, of Choctaw, won $1,000. h Jose Duarte, of Oklahoma City, won $1,000. h Teri Hooten, of Seminole, won $1,000. h Jessica Phillips, of Shawnee, won $1,000. h Jamie Beatty, of Tulsa, won $1000. h Sarah Corley, of Yukon, won $1,000. OCCC celebrates Hall of Fame inductees

Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) honored three outstandin­g alumni, a former president of the college, and all OCCC health care alumni who served the community through the COVID pandemic at the 2023 Hall of Fame Celebratio­n.

This year’s inductees are: h Angela O’Keefe, of Oklahoma City, is the president of A-Team Financial Investment­s, president of Women of the South, Volunteer of the Year at the South Oklahoma City Chamber, and chair of TEAM South. h Dr. Paul Sechrist, of Oklahoma City, is president emeritus of OCCC. He previously served at OCCC for more than 20 years. He was named “Most Admired CEO” in Oklahoma by the Journal Record in 2011, and was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Heritage Society Hall of Fame. h Joey Stipek, of New York City, is a content strategist at Huge Inc. and a recipient of the Ben Blackstock Award for Commitment to Freedom of Informatio­n. He freelanced for The New York Times, The Center for Public Integrity and The Daily Mail. He is also the former editor of the Pioneer, OCCC’s award-winning student newspaper. h J.R. Webster, of Oklahoma City, is a Realtor for Chamberlai­n Realty. He has been an active member of the Alumni Associatio­n Board for 10 years and was president from 2014 to 2016. He also served as a guest speaker for the Success in College and Life class for 11 years on topics including personal finance and budgeting.

Dolese profession­al honored

The National Ready Mixed Concrete Associatio­n (NRMCA) recently named Dolese Bros. Co. Concrete delivery profession­al Dewayne Gootee as a runner-up for its 2023 Ready Mixed Concrete Delivery Profession­al Driver of the Year Award.

Gootee has served as a Dolese Concrete Delivery Profession­al for 17 years. He was named Dolese’s Driver of the Year in 2022 and won Dolese’s Safe Driver Award in 2018 and in 2021. He is an NRMCA Certified Concrete Delivery Profession­al and was Dolese’s first master level Concrete Delivery Profession­al. The Ready Mixed Concrete Delivery Profession­al Driver of the Year Award annually acknowledg­es the significan­t contributi­on of ready mixed concrete truck drivers to the growth and success of individual companies and the ready mixed concrete industry. The award recognizes a driver’s career achievemen­t, safety, profession­alism, competence and customer service.
