BUMCOMBE CREEK - James Thomas White ( Jim) 75, was called home to be with Jesus on March 13, 2023 after a long battle with COPD.

Jim was born on August 22, 1947 to Thomas and Margo White in Chicago, Illinois. Jim traveled the country as a military kid and even lived in Japan for a time. After Jim graduated from Irvin High School in El Paso, TX in 1966, he joined the Air Force and served in Vietnam as a Sergeant until April of 1971. After his discharge, Jim worked at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City until his retirement in 2003.

In 1975, Jim met Barbara, his wife of 27 years. Life revolved around their kids and grandkids throughout their entire marriage. When Barbara was diagnosed with cancer, Jim was an amazing caregiver to her up to the day she passed away on March 18, 2003. We rejoice that they are together again!

Jim’s greatest passion in life next to his family was fishing and the lake. He was a great fisherman and even fished in Bassmaster tournaments in his younger days bringing home a large golden fish trophy that his kids always admired.

Jim also had a great love for hunting. He enjoyed collecting and shooting guns. He lived his last years in Buncombe Creek at Lake Texoma and when his body would not allow him to fish or hunt, he loved to just ride around on his golf cart and be outdoors. He had many very close friends and always enjoyed being around them. He looked forward to the weekends when his life long friend Garry Streetman would be at the lake so they could talk about the good old days. He enjoyed his friends and we know they will miss him dearly.

Jim loved his family so much. He always enjoyed and welcomed a visit from his kids, grandkids and especially his great grandbabies. He loved visiting with his family, reading, watching home renovation shows and playing with the babies. He had a special bond with his 2 children and they are so thankful for the time they had with him.

Several years ago, Jim met his greatest love, Jesus. He loved the Lord and was so excited to share and talk about his love. He enjoyed studying the Bible and even in his final days he praised the Lord. We take comfort knowing without a doubt that he is in the arms of Jesus.

Jim is survived by his daughter Ann Jefferson and son-in-law Roger, his son, Jimmy Barnes and partner, Newly Sterling. His grandchildren, Jason Inderlied and wife Randi, Jessica Crippen and husband Jonathon, Frank Jefferson, Anna Jefferson, and also by his beloved great grandbabies Jaxon and Kennedy Inderlied.

Jim was preceded in death by his father Thomas White, mother, Margo White and wife Barbara White.

Jim’s memorial service be on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, 2pm at the Sunset Memorial Park Chapel 2301 E. Indian Hill Rd, Norman, OK 73071.

Remembrance arrangements can only be delivered the day of the memorial to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jim’s name to The Salvation Army.
