OKLAHOMA CITY - Donna Kay Rushing (Courtney) was born October 26, 1937 to her parents John Edward Courtney and Leola Retha Courtney (Mabes) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Donna graduated from UCO with a degree in Special Education and was thereafter a revered Special Education teacher for over 25 years, having been awarded Special Needs Educator of the Year for the 1992-1993 session. She taught Special Education at her alma mater Southeast High School for 14 years, then taught for the next 14 years at the Metro Tech Springlake campus, retiring in 2000. Donna loves her family and friends and promoting a sense of community. She was active in the Kappa Delta Pi honor society, numerous auto clubs, and acted as her graduating class communicat­or. We and so many love her dearly. Donna is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Twila Faye Lickliter, Valla Rae Hartley, and Sondra Gay Stone, her brother Eddie Lee Courtney, her husband Donald Rushing, and her late partner Charles Douglas Weeks. She is survived by her daughter Jeanne Williams, granddaugh­ters Dena Laporte, Hannah (Christophe­r) Beam, Megan (Dustin) Venard, grandson Andrew Williams, great granddaugh­ters Alexandrea Laporte, Rubey Beam, Lola Beam, and Donovan Venard, great grandsons Brenden Laporte and Graham Venard, and vast other beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Vondel Smith South Lakes Chapel with interment at Heritage Burial Park. A reception will follow at the funeral home.
