OU softball completes sweep vs. Baylor

The top-ranked OU softball team took both games of Saturday's split doublehead­er behind seven home runs, earning a series sweep over No. 19 Baylor at Love's Field in Norman to remain unbeaten in Big 12 play.

OU (31-1, 9-0 Big 12) run-ruled Baylor (17-11, 1-8 Big 12) 12-3 in five innings in front of a stadium-record 4,520 fans in game one before taking the doublehead­er and series finale 7-4.

Ella Parker sealed a run-rule win in game one with an opposite-field grand slam, Alyssa Brito homered in both games and six multi-hit performanc­es were delivered by the Sooners' lineup between the two games.

Nicole May (10-0) got the win in the circle in the first game, while Kierston Deal (7-0) earned the victory in the second matchup.

❚ Sixth-ranked Oklahoma State softball beat BYU 10-2 in six innings Saturday in

Provo, Utah, winning the series 2-1. Tallen Edwards had a big day for the Cowgirls, finishing 3 for 4 with five RBIs. Ivy Rosenberry got the win in the circle after allowing two runs and four hits in four innings. Lexi Kilfoyl pitched the last two innings and didn't allow a hit.

❚ OU baseball dropped both games of a doublehead­er Saturday at L. Dale Mitchell Park in Norman to lose its first Big 12 series of the season. After OU juniors Braden Davis and Reid Hensley combined on a no-hitter Friday night in a 13-0 win, West Virginia took Game 2 of the series 9-5 before turning around to beat OU 8-3 in the nightcap to clinch the series.

❚ Brian Holiday threw a complete game to lead Oklahoma State to a 6-2 win over No. 18 TCU on Saturday night at O'Brate Stadium in Stillwater. Offensivel­y, Aidan Meola went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, while Kollin Ritchie homered and drove in three runs. Holiday improved to 2-1 as he struck out a careerhigh 14 while allowing just two runs on four hits.
