MIDWEST CITY - “….there is a special place in heaven for the mother of four boys….”

Helen Ann Murphy, the matriarch of the Murphy family, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2024. The elder daughter of Col. and Mrs. John P. Scott, she was preceded in death by her parents, sister Susie Cassler, daughter-in-law Randy, and, in 2003, Howard (Murph), her husband of 56 years. She and Murph spent many hours in the bleachers at football, basketball, and baseball games as her boys moved from elementary school through college. In any time that was her own, Helen Ann enjoyed working in different artistic areas including painting, stained glass, sewing, and calligraphy; was an active member of the Midwest City Garden Club/Council; an enthusiastic “Red Hat;” and a long-standing volunteer at the then Midwest City Hospital.

Known by many names to family, friends, and neighbors (Mom, Helen Ann, Momma Murphy, Bobo, GramBo), she is survived and remembered by her sons Bob, John, Larry (Tina), and Danny (Linda); as well as additions to the family Leslie, Karla, and Sheryl; grandchildren Bobby, Cory (Doug), Melissa, Paul (Dixie), Rhett (Kalyn), Cayce, Taylor, and Zack (Rossi); great grandchildren Nesta, Noah, Quinn, Alyana, Olivia, Alex, Kayden, Declan, Mac, Clara, Murphy, Theo, and Mila; and great-great granddaughter Remi.

Her sons thank the staff of Legend at Rivendell and of Suncrest Hospice for the care they provided. A special thank you to Sheila Kinney of Suncrest for how she made our mother feel special during even difficult times.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to plant a flower in her memory or to make a donation to a garden club or charity of your choice. A date for a memorial service is yet to be determined.
