SAUQUOIT — Sherrill's American Legion baseball team grabbed a 2-0 lead with one out to start Friday's game against the Clonan-Wicks-Staley team Friday night. Kyle George's two-RBI hit drove in Alex Saville and Josh Albro to give the visitors the lead and things looked good. They still did after allowing a run in the bottom of the inning on three errors.

But one inning later things didn't go so well for the visitors and it was an uphill battle the rest of the evening in a 12-2, mercy rule loss.

Rob Slivinski took advantage of Sherrill's fourth error of the game to hit a single that started a fiverun rally in the second inning that changed the momentum. The hosts put the game away with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, Mark Martin's three-run homer doing the most damage.

Martin was 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a double and single to go with his homer to lead CWS' attack. Jeff DeShane went the distance for the win and had extra support from Jared Allen's two-RBI triple.

Sherrill wound up with seven hits to 10 for the hosts.

"We all made mistakes tonight," Sherrill coach Mike Dunne said. "It's a learning experience."

Rob Reeder took the loss for Sherrill (8-4, 10-5). Kyle George and Alex Saville had two hits apiece for the visitors.
