Albert H. Palmer, 77, of Middle Road, formerly of Canastota, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013 at the Rome Center in Rome.

He was born Aug. 13, 1935 in Deposit, N. Y., a son of Elmer and Katheryn Middough Palmer, and was a graduate of Deposit High School. On March 3, 1955, Albert married Shirley Irene Becker in Cannonsvil­le, N. Y. Al was a truck driver for the Madison County Highway Department for 26 years until retiring in 1998. He had also worked on the Smithland Farms in Canastota. He was a member of the Canal Town Roamers Camping Club, the Ronnie Smith Fan Club and the A. A. R. P.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley; children, Sandra and Leon Eaton of Morrisvill­e, Donna DeGroat and Mike Markowski of Eaton, Brian and Penny Palmer of Panther Lake, Joann and Calvin Collins of Earlville; brothers and sisters- in- law, James and Barbara Palmer of Bergen, N. Y., George and

Betty Palmer of Sidney; 11 grandchild­ren, 18 greatgrand­children; several nieces and nephews. He was predecease­d by two brothers, Charles and Ralph Palmer; and four sisters, Abby Holmes, Lorena Humphrey, Ruth Foster and Isabelle Mattox.

In keeping with his wishes, there are no services or calling hours.

Interment will be private in the Peterboro Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n, 441 W. Kirkpatric­k St., Syracuse, N. Y. 13204; or to the National Parkinson Foundation, Gift Processing Center, P. O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, Md. 21741- 5018.
