Classic Car Show in Bouckville

Event runs June 27- 30

-

BOUCKVILLE >> Drivers, start your engines, and classic car enthusiasts, mark your calendars, for the inaugural Bouckville Classic Car Show and Swap Meet, a four- day mega- event planned for June 27- 30 in Bouckville, home of the annual Madison- Bouckville Antique Week on State Route 20.

The event is being presented by Madison- Bouckville Promotions, which also sponsors Antique Week. Admission will be free on all fields and a free shuttle bus will ride through town on Car Show days ( Saturday and Sunday).

While the Classic Car Show will be limited to just June 29- 30, the Swap Meet will be a four- day affair, to be held June 27- 30 at the Cider House show field, the Out Front show field at Pinebrick Antiques and Quaker Acres West show field, all near or along State Route 20. Inside and outside vendor spaces are still available for the Swap Meet, which will be held rain or shine.

In addition, Quaker Acres show field will also play host to a first- ever Farm and Family Tractor Show and Swap Meet on June 28- 30. That event will feature vintage tractor displays, an antiques and collectibles market, tractor parts, arts and crafts, a farmers market and more. Admission is free. For information, call ( 315) 723- 8736.

The centerpiece event of the four days will be the Classic Car Show, a shout- out to a simpler time when big fins were all the rage, sponge dice hung from the rear- view mirror and gas was 29 cents a gallon. For folks looking to show off ( or even sell) their vintage ride, the car registration fee is $ 15 for both days. For info log on to www. bouckvilleclassics. com.

Two events promise to make the Classic Car Show special. The first is a Cruise for Cash promotion. Players can pick up a game card at any participating show field on or after June 27. Then they must bring their game card to the establishments listed on the card, to get it stamped.

Players must turn in their cards by 10 a. m. on Saturday or Sunday ( June 29- 30) and listen from noon forward, both days. A DJ will draw for cash and prizes throughout the day, both days, and winners will be posted at the DJ booth. A grand prize of $ 500 will be awarded, from the Saturday noon drawing. Players need not be present to win, and they may play more than once.

The other event is being called the 1955- 1975 People’s Choice Awards, and its purpose is to recognize the most outstanding vintage autos at the Classic Car Show. Vehicles of all years and makes will be allowed to participate, and trophies and other giveaways will be awarded, but a special class of trophies ( 1955- 75 cars only) will be handed out on Saturday.

Anyone wishing to sell their classic car may do so at the Swap Meet in one of the Car Corrals, a dealer space specifically for automobiles. The fee is $ 25. “The vendor space pricing is right out of the ‘ 70s, and admission is free to all events. That’s our way of insuring that this first annual event will be a rousing success,” said Jim Dutcher of Madison- Bouckville Promotions.

Live music will be performed on Saturday, June 29, at 6 p. m., by The Bruce Beadle Band, playing country and classic rock favorites; and on Sunday, June 30, at 1 p. m., by Nashville recording artists The Beadle Brothers, whose hits include “To the Moon and Back” and “Back to the Country.”
