CANASTOTA >> Anthony J. “AJ” Fellone, 56, of 9107 Arthur Jenkins Road, Canastota (Oneida Lake), passed away unexpected­ly on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at the Oneida Healthcare Emergency Room, after being stricken at home.

He was born on Feb. 13, 1957, in Utica, the son of Anthony P. and Angeline Percola Fellone.

AJ lived in the Canastota area most of his life, graduating from Canastota High School in 1975.

He has worked for the Town of Sullivan Highway Department in N. Chittenang­o for the past 22 years. He previously worked at Zupan’s Mobil Station in Canastota for several years.

AJ was a member of the Tappet Twirlers Car Club in Rome.

He was of the Catholic faith.

AJ loved his job, and enjoyed his 1966 Chevy Nova, working on cars, attending car shows, and spending time in Old Forge. He gathered with good friends at “church” every Sunday morning at the VanLare’s garage in Canastota.

He married Margaret A. “Peggy” Goppert on July 6, 1996 in Canastota.

Surviving besides his wife, Peggy, are: a son, Jason and Elizabeth Merrill of Sherrill; a sister, Beverly Fellone of Utica; two grandsons, Robert Merrill and Daniel Merrill; as well as a niece, two nephews, and many friends.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Canastota. The Rev. William A. Mesmer, pastor of St. Helena’s Church, Sherrill, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agatha’s Cemetery, Canastota. Calling hours will be held on Monday, from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home, Inc., 201 James St., Canastota. In his memory, contributi­ons may be made to Greater Lenox Ambulance Service (GLAS), P.O. Box 382, Canastota, N.Y. 13032, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
