HAMILTON >> Harriet M. Ford, 90, of Madison Lane, passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.
She was born on Oct. 24, 1923 in Oneida, N.Y., a daughter of John and Loretta Brietling McCouliff.
On May 18, 1946, Harriet married Wallace Ford in Oneida. Together, they operated their dairy farm on Strafford Street in Madison from 1946 until 1978, when they moved to Byrd Road, Madison. He predeceased her on Sept. 25, 1998. Harriet then moved to Madison Lane apartments where she was active in her community, volunteering at the Worn Again shop and with the Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was an avid gardener and loved reading and watching movies.
Harriet was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Hamilton where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the Legion of Mary.
Surviving are her children, James and Joan Ford of Hamilton; Douglas and Claudia Ford of Bouckville; Edward and Leigh Ford of Clinton; Rosemary and Peter Rukavena of Ithaca; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Rosemary McCouliff and a brother, John McCouliff.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013 from St. Mary’s Church, Hamilton, followed by interment in the Madison Village Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 4 to 7 p.m.
