Chittenang­o Landing Canal Boat Museum, 717 Lakeport Road, Chittenang­o will present “Veterans Come Tell Your Story” at 2 p.m., today. All are invited to come and listen to veterans talk about their experience­s while serving their country.

Dickens Open House

The Country Store Antiques and More in Bernhard’s Bay will hold an open house today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with over three floors and 35 dealers. There will be Dickens characters to entertain you.

Crafts: Let’s Talk Turkey will have Michele Ryan leading children in grades 1-5 with turkey trivia and crafts for the Thanksgivi­ng table at Oneida Public Library, 220 Broad St.

On Tuesday, After School Science: We Are What We Eat will be held at 4 p.m. Mad Professor Jen Herzog of Herkimer County Community College returns with experiment­s about the stuff that food is made of for elementary and middle school students.

Watercolor­s by Ruth Donovan will be on display Nov. 20 through Dec. 5. Originals and reprints will be offered

for sale.

The library’s board of trustees will meet Thursday, Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. in the history room. The public is invited to attend. Canastota Library

The Canastota Public Library is starting a website design workshop to teach users WordPress for their website or blog. If you have been thinking of starting a blog on the internet this workshop is for you.

The program will be offered on Tuesday beginning at 6 p.m. If possible, participan­ts should bring their own laptop computer. The library has a few laptops that they can loan for the program. Call the library at 697-7030 to register.

Civic Club Meets

The Canastota Civic Club will hold its next monthly meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at The Three Pines Restaurant, North Peterboro Street, Canastota. A social time will be held at 6:15 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m.

Club Appreciati­on Night will be the program theme with Rick Stagnitti, chairman of the committee. He will be assisted by Jim Caldwell, John Shannon, John Hadyk, Don Raymond and Don VanDusen.

Tickets are $13 per member and $13 per guest.

Family Movie Night

The Sherrill-Kenwood Free Library will offer a free movie night at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20. “Planes,” the Walt Disney action-packed animated comedy will be featured. The movie is rated PG. Join the group for flying adventure and free popcorn.

Holy Cross Academy in Oneida Castle is offering natural wreaths handmade by Stone Brothers Nursery for the Christmas season. Wreaths ranging in price from $16 to $38 may be or-

Zonta Club Meets

The Oneida Area Zonta Club will hold its monthly dinner business meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at Colosseo’s Restaurant, Route 5. A social time will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6 p.m.

Guest speaker will be Rebecca Lare of the Food Bank of Central New York. Also attending will be the Z Club officers and advisor from the Oneida High School.

Christian Luncheon

“Lost & Alone To Happily Ever After” is the topic for the guest speaker at the Oneida-Canastota Christian Women’s Club luncheon to be held on Thursday, Nov. 21 at the Rusty Rail, Seneca Avenue, Canastota. The meeting will be held from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Guest speaker will be Sharon Ditton.

A special shopper’s opportunit­y will be held with some of the items to be offered including blown glass, glazed plates, honey and maple products and goat milk products. Special feature during the luncheon will be musician Bob Ditton on bagpipes.

The Green Thumb Garden Club of Oneida Castle will meet on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. at 11 State St. Club members will create autumn gifts from nature for residents and staff at the Hazel Carpenter Home in Oneida.

Free Movie

Moviegoers who love an underdog won’t want to miss “Planes” to be shown in the Cazenovia Public Library community room on Friday, Nov. 22 at 3:15 and 7 p.m.

The action-packed animated comedy-adventure features Dusty, a little crop duster plane with a fear of heights but with dreams of competing as a high-flying air racer. The film runs 92 minutes and is rated PG. As always, admission and popcorn are free.

Christmas Crafts

The Great Swamp Conservanc­y Inc. located at 8375 N. Main St., Canastota, will present Nature Christmas Crafts, an afternoon of make and take ornaments on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 1 p.m. Participan­ts can make three ornaments per person for a $5 donation. The event is appropriat­e for ages 8 and older.

Thanksgivi­ng Service

The Canastota Area Associatio­n of Churches will hold its annual ecumenical Thanksgivi­ng service on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 304 S. Peterboro St. Area clergymen will participat­e in the service. The community and area residents are urged to attend.

Bridgeport Library

On Tuesday, Nov. 26 at the Sullivan-Bridgeport Public Library, F.R.o.G. will meet at 6:30 p.m. and at 7 p.m. Attic Salt book group meeting will have as a topic “Ghost Soldiers.”

Snowmobile Course

Tri-Valley Trail Riders Inc. and Vineall Ambulance Inc. will hold a snowmobile safety course on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 317 Sconondoa St., Oneida.

The free course is for ages 10 and older. Class size is limited; call 366-5444 to register. Lunch will be provided.

Mark Your Calendar

The Madison County Department of Health will hold a rabies vaccinatio­n clinic on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the Oneida Vets Field on North Main Street.

All animals must be at least three months of age and properly restrained. Vaccinatio­ns are available free of charge to Madison County residents, however a $5 donation is requested per pet to help defray clinic costs. Proof of previous vaccinatio­n is required to qualify for a three-year certificat­e.

Fall Cleanup

The village of Oneida Castle is holding its annual fall yard clean-up. Residents must place all yard debris at curbside and may include limbs up to two inches in diameter. All leaves must be bagged for pick-up.

St. Patrick’s Wreaths

St. Patrick’s School in Oneida is selling balsam Christmas wreaths. The sizes available are: 20 inch wreath with bow, $18 or $20 with bow, cones and berries; 30 inch wreath, $38 with bow or $42 with bow, cones and berries; 24 inch cross, $34 with bow or $38 with bow, cone and berries.
