VERONA>> Albert E. “Ike” Lacell, 81, of Verona, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014. He was born Sept. 17, 1933 in Vienna, a son of Orlie and Helen Wright Lacell. He was a graduate of Camden Central High School and Alfred State Tech. On June 30, 2012, he married Martha Harper.

Ike served in the US Army from 1951-1954 and later retired from the Army National Guard after over 20 years of service.

He was an electrical technician at General Electric in Utica for 26 years, retiring in 1993. He later worked for Thompson Electronic­s.

He was a member of Vienna Methodist Church and attended Friendship Baptist Church.

Ike coached youth baseball in Vernon for many years. He was also an avid bowler.

Surviving besides his wife Martha, are: a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Michael Rolewicz, of Westmorela­nd; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronald Lacell, of Vernon, and Richard and Christy Lacell, of Fort Myers, Fla.; a sister, Eunice Eldridge, of Blossvale; seven grandchild­ren, Amanda, Tara, Shelby, Kimber, Richard, Megan, Benjamin; one great-granddaugh­ter, Brynlee; a sister-inlaw, Linda Lacell, of North Bay; a brother-in-law, Don Reising, of Blossvale; and several nieces and nephews. He was predecease­d by a sister, Pearl Reising, and two brothers, George and Pete Lacell.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Friendship Baptist Church, 4964 Rome-New London Road. Interment will take place in McConnells­ville Cemetery. Friends may call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Monday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons in Ike’s memory may be made to the Friendship Baptist Church Missions, Albert Lacell Camp Scholarshi­ps or Hospice and Palliative Care.
