Anna (Fusillo) Cozzi, 92, of Canastota

CANASTOTA>> Mrs. Anna (Fusillo) Cozzi, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014 at the Sitrin Health Care Center with her loving family by her side.

She was born on Sept. 29, 1922 in Canastota, N.Y., a daughter of the late Andre and Marta Mansuata Fusillo. On Feb. 13, 1965 she was married to Glenn Cozzi at Williston Park in Nassau County, until his passing in 1988.

Anna was educated in Canastota schools and was also a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Later, Anna was employed at General Electric for several years. Subsequent­ly she and her husband Glenn owned and operated Cozzi Contractin­g Co. for many years, until her retirement.

Anna was a compassion­ate woman, loved by all and her life revolved around her family. When she was young, Anna starred in operas. In her later years, she brought the same love of stories and music to her family. She was a great storytelle­r; a favorite story of her nieces and nephews was “Epaminonda­s.” She also led the family in song from the tarantella to “O Holy Night,” Anna was the family maestro, especially at Christmas time.

Anna was a loving, devoted sister and aunt.

Surviving are two sisters and brothers-in-law Mary and Frank Leone of Florida, and Rosie and Sam Spuches of Syracuse; two sisters-in-law Mary and Lois Fusillo; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predecease­d by four sisters Angeline Zammiello, Joanne Petillo, Betty Patane and Annette Galavotti; and five brothers Dominick, Nicholas, Vito, Anthony and Joseph Fusillo.

Her Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday Dec. 13, at 9:30 a.m. in St. Agatha Church, Canastota, with Burial in St. Agatha Cemetery.
