MORRISVILL­E>> Scott J. Miner, Jr., 81, of Rocks Road, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014 at the Crouse Community Center in Morrisvill­e.

He was born Nov. 11, 1933 in Syracuse, a son of Scott J., Sr. and Helen Cook Miner and grew up in Orwell and East Herkimer. He was a graduate of Herkimer High School in 1951 and Oswego State Teachers College and Clarkson University with a master’s degree in math education. Scott proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He taught math at Morrisvill­e Agricultur­al and Technical College until his retirement in 1989. He had previously taught high school math and industrial arts at Glenham (N.Y.) Union Free School and Boonville (N.Y.) Central School. He was an avid collector of radios, milk bottles and miscellane­ous items at “Scott’s Place” in Bouckville. He was also the recipient of many “$ boxes” from various auctions in the area. On June 27, 1959, Scott married Marlene D. Gilbert in Clinton. He was a member of the Morrisvill­e Community Church.

Surviving are his wife, Marlene; three daughters, Linda and Mike Waite of W. Chazy, N.Y., Wendy El- lenwood of Syracuse, Donna and Bill O’Brien of Goshen; one son, Glenn Miner of Eaton; three grandchild­ren, Ethan Waite, Shaun O’Brien and Kyle O’Brien; a brother-in-law, Dick Allen; a sister-in-law, Ann Gilbert; and several nieces and nephews. He was predecease­d by his parents, a sister, Shirley Allen, and a son-in-law, Matthew Ellenwood and a brother-in-law, Richard Gilbert.

Memorial services will be held at a later date to be announced.

Interment will be private at the convenienc­e of his family.

Contributi­ons in his memory may be made to the Morrisvill­e Community Church; or to a charity of your choice.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Crouse Community Center for their care, concern and love for Scott and his family during his time there.

Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisvill­e, N.Y.
