Music in the Mucklands benefits Nature Center

-

Local bands will perform at the Great Swamp Conservancy to raise funds for the Nature Center.

CANASTOTA >> Music in the Mucklands is a new “session in the swamp” benefit to support the Great Swamp Conservancy’s mission.

On Aug. 22 from 5- 9 p.m., three local bands will perform a range of musical styles, from bluegrass, rock, R&B and Americana. Reyna Stagnaro of the Dove Creek band came up with the idea to offer its talent as a major fundraiser and P. J. Will of the Lightkeepers followed. Both bands and their members agreed to give their time to raise funds for the Nature Center.

Dove Creek with Reyna Stagnaro and Putter Cox will play Americana music.

The Lightkeepers are a new sound in Central New York. They mix parts of rock and roll, funk, R&B and jazz for a fun lineup. The band is comprised of Jes Sheldon on lead vocals, Mike Vincitore on lead guitar, P.J. Will on rhythm guitar, Aaron Fried on bass and backing vocals, and Jim “Peaches” Dunham on drums and percussion. This band plays regularly at the Syracuse Dinosaur BBQ.

Stoop Boys are two talented young men from Chittenango who play alternative rock, Mumford & Son and Dave Mathews. They recently played at the Col- gate Inn in Hamilton.

Suggested donation is $5 for adult; children under 12 free. No coolers are allowed. Food will be available.
