Folded paper workshop

- By Carol Weimer Contributing Writer

All are invited to join Jeanette Robertson, local artist and author, for Iris Folding, a workshop in the Cazenovia Public Library Community Roomon Friday, Aug. 21 from 10 a.m. to noon.

A craft that almost anyone can do, Iris Folding is a series of folded papers laid out in a spiral method using a numbered pattern template. The final product can be framed or given as a greeting card. Participants need to bring their own scissors, Scotch tape, pencil, and ruler. All other materials will be provided.

Roberts has conducted workshops at the Norman Rockwell Museum, Maryland Arts Academy, Chautaqua Institute, the Villages Life-Long Learning College and others. She is a published watercolor and pencil artist with her art appearing in books, magazines and greeting cards for more than 20 years.

She is also the author and artist for three books: “Painting Greeting Cards for Fun & Profit” (1999), “Greeting Cards from A to Z” (2006) and “Watercolor 101” (2007). Additionally her work appears in the book “Splash 8.”

Since retirement, Robertson has applied her art background to crafts. “Since I was a child, greeting cards have always been my first interest,” Robertson said, “and more of my time is now spent working small by applying different art and craft forms to cards.”

Space for this workshop is limited. Stop by or call the Library 6559322 to reserve a spot. “Iris Folding” is free and open to the public.
