Gospel concert double billing at Mudville
HERKIMER >> Inspirational singer Sherry Anne will be joined by The Oak Ridge FM Quartet for a lively Southern gospel concert at the Mudville Softball Complex at 3350 Route 28 north of Herkimer on Friday, Aug. 26, at 6 p.m.
In the event of rain, the concert will be held at the Herkimer Reformed Church on the historic four corners of Church Street and Main Street in Herkimer.
Organizers suggest visitors bring lawn chairs. A free will offering will be suggested in support of The Oak Ridge FM Quartet and Sherry Anne Ministries. CDs will be available for purchase.
TheOakRidge FMQuartet has been involved in gospel concert ministry for the past 10 years. The group donates 15 percent of all offerings to support Smile Train, an organization that repairs cleft lips and palates free of charge for children from third world countries.
“It is our joy to sing the gospel message in many different musical styles from classical hymns to moving contemporary pieces,” says group member Karl Ermisch.
Sherry Anne, born with a bilateral hearing and speech impairment, blends a passion for Southern gospel, R&B, country, and blues music with her deep faith. She is a Singing News Fan Awards Top Ten Favorite New Artist nominee for 2016.
Sherry Anne has recorded contemporary and Southern gospel CDs, produced by Academy of Country Music Award winner Gordon Mote, Gaither Homecoming FriendWoody Wright, Southern Gospel Hall of Famer Nick Bruno, and Tony Griffith of The Griffith Family of Nashville, Tenn. This spring, her radio single “To Be Forgiven” made the National Top 80 Southern Gospel Chart published by The SingingNews.
Sherry Anne, who is also a chiropractor, often speaks, and sings, to encourage individuals with disabilities, inner city children, and audiences at schools, college campuses, and corporate events. ONEIDA >> With the gifts of abundant sunshine and occasional rain, plus supplemental irrigation, the Oneida Area Community Garden at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church has produced a bountiful crop of zucchini and summer squash, green and yellow beans, turnips, beets, radishes, cucumbers and rhubarb.
The vegetables are delivered to the food pantry at DURHAMVILLE >> Durhamville Baptist Church will host a performance by The Lesters, one of the country’s premiere Southern Gospel groups, onWednesday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. at the church, 5294 Church St.
The Lesters, from St. Louis, Mo., hold the Guinness World Record as the longest continually operating music group in history. In the group’s 91st St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church.
Many families are benefiting from the efforts put forthby volunteers fromthe church and community, under the leadership of project chairman Jerry Crayton.
The purpose of the community garden is to supply fresh local produce to food pantries for distribution to area families. Local food pantries that are not yet receiving produce fromthe garden are invited year, third and fourth generations of The Lesters now carry the banner for the Lester family.
With power, precision and passion, the three vocalists tell their story of assurance and joy in walking with and serving their Lord.
The concert is free. A love offering will be taken to support the group’s ministry. CDs and other materials will be available. to request this through the garden’s website, www.oacgarden.org.
Anyone can be involved in the garden project. Recently, seven young volunteers fromOneida AreaDay Care came to the garden to help pick beans and turnips. Another day, 25 youths from community churches helped pick beans.
Work sessions take place on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and Sundays at 5 p.m. with volunteers of all ages. More
