Final service at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Aug. 28
VERNON>> After more than 211 years of serving the Vernon community and its members, the Three Voices Congregation’s last worship service at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church will be held on Sunday, Aug. 28, during which time the buildingwill be symbolically given to the Shiloh Bible Church.
A picnic will be held at 5:30 p.m. followed by a service of worship at 7 p.m.
After several years of prayerful consideration, the Session of the Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church along with its congregation, and the Presbytery of Utica made a decision that its congregation members would remain part of the Three Voices Congregation but desired that the physical building continue as a house of worship. Prayers were answered as approval was given to gift the building over to the Shiloh Bible Church.
The Shiloh Bible Church is an established church which has been meeting in Hubbardsville for Sunday worship and in Vernon for amid-week Bible study. Pas- tor David Cassulis serves as the church’s pastor.
According to Peg Ward, senior pastor of the Three Voices, seeing and knowing the blessings that God bestowed on the Three Voices Congregation and onMount Vernon Presbyterian Church and coming to understand the need of Shiloh Bible Church to have a place of worship - a home to grow the Kingdom of God in living and preaching the Gospel of our Lord Jesus - makes this relationship a blessing for both congregations.
The service will be amilestone for both churches as they celebrate the history and pray for the future of both congregations. A special choir is being planned for that evening and remarks are expected from current and former Pastors of the Three Voices and Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church as well as the Shiloh Bible Church.
The public is welcome to attend this special service but reservations for the BBQ are requested in advance by calling 315-480-4174.
